Brief history
JWC Guitars | Luthier Jeongwoo Cho
JWC Guitars is the work of Jeongwoo Cho, a master luthier dedicated to crafting high-end classical and gypsy jazz guitars.
- Since 1994, I have been deeply immersed in the art of guitar making, specializing in concert-level classical guitars
- In 2005, I opened my own workshop, focusing on custom-built classical guitars and authentic vintage-inspired gypsy jazz guitars.
- In 2009, I partnered with Tony Walker of JWC Guitars Ltd in the UK, becoming a Master Luthier.
- Between 2010 and 2016, I lived in the UK, where I had the rare opportunity to study original Selmer, Busato, Favino, and other vintage gypsy guitars firsthand. This experience deepened my understanding of their sound, structure, and craftsmanship.
- Over the years, JWC Guitars has been played by world-renowned musicians such as Stochelo Rosenberg, Samson Schmitt, Mozes Rosenberg, Lollo Meir, and Paulus Schäfer, establishing its reputation as an authentic gypsy guitar brand.
- In 2024, after Tony Walker’s full retirement, JWC Guitars entered its second era, evolving with a refined identity while maintaining its original philosophy.
Today, I continue to craft a limited number of concert classical guitars and custom gypsy jazz guitars, staying true to traditional specs while incorporating modern refinements. My goal remains the same—to build instruments that inspire musicians and stand the test of time.
